Atlantic Power Energy

ATP Factorix-H - Monitored Low-Voltage Capacitor Banks

Automatic banks with filters, switching by contactors, type P=7% (fres=189 Hz), 50-60 Hz

Features and Benefits

· Supervised system: Automatic power factor correction (PFC), remote monitoring, preventive alarm management, and event logging through the CMMS Edge – PFC platform
· Guaranteed savings: Eliminates penalties for low power factor and reduces electrical losses.
· Durability: Heavy Duty capacitors (150,000 h), designed to operate in harmonic-polluted networks.
· Quick “plug & play” installation: Designed for hassle-free commissioning.
· In harmonic-rich networks, the implementation of detuned power factor correction systems – ATP Factorix-H – ensures safe and reliable operation, avoiding resonance damage.

Equipment Description

The 7% detuned filter banks of the ATP Factorix-H Series are designed for reactive power compensation in networks with fluctuating load levels, high harmonic presence, and resonance risk. They are configured with Heavy Duty capacitors, where power variations are relatively slow (in the order of seconds), therefore switching is performed through contactors and fast-discharge resistors.

Applications

Mainly focused on the compensation of facilities with different loads and where the harmonic content (greater than 20%) is high, such as:

  • Industries with drives for motor start and stop (Variable Frequency Drives, Soft Starters).
  • Installations with inductive load and electronic loads such as: data servers, telecommunications, UPS systems, etc.
  • Hospitals.
  • Telecommunications.
  • Mining.
