What is a raised access floor?

It is a modular structure made up of load-bearing panels supported by adjustable pedestals. The gap created between the slab and the floor surface (plenum) allows for the routing of electrical wiring, network cables, HVAC ducts, or security systems. This design facilitates maintenance, organization, and the expansion of critical infrastructures without the need for civil works.

It is used in environments that require high cable density and environmental control, such as data centers, telecommunications rooms, electrical facilities, hospitals, smart offices, and corporate buildings. Its function is to enable the safe and organized distribution of technical services beneath the floor, maintaining a clean and functional environment.

It is employed when there is a significant level of services (electrical, data, HVAC, fire detection) that must be distributed without obstructing the usable space, while allowing easy access for maintenance and future modifications.

It is important to evaluate load capacity requirements, the available plenum height, the type of surface finish (antistatic or decorative), fire resistance, applicable safety standards, and compatibility with the equipment that will rest on the floor, such as racks, UPS units, or precision air conditioners.

Atlantic Power offers panels with HPL (High Pressure Laminate), conductive vinyl, or dissipative vinyl finishes. Each type is selected according to the project’s nature — technical, corporate, or decorative — always ensuring wear resistance, controlled conductivity, and a professional aesthetic.

Maintenance is simple. It is recommended to periodically clean the surface, inspect pedestal and stringer fittings, and verify that the conductive properties of the finish remain within standard values.

Panels can be easily removed without tools, providing immediate access to the underfloor installations.

Yes. The Atlantic Power modular system allows for expanding areas, adding new panels, installing additional cabling, or redistributing services without altering the main structure.

This flexibility makes it an ideal solution for companies planning future growth or technological upgrades.

Galvanized pedestals are adjustable from 55 mm to over 1200 mm, depending on the amount of cabling or airflow required under the floor.

This adjustable range allows the system to adapt to any type of technical room, data center, or corporate building.

All models comply with EN 12825 (mechanical resistance), BS 476 (fire resistance), NFPA 99 (electrostatic protection and electrical safety), and ISO 9001 (quality management).

These certifications ensure a product with high structural performance, electrical safety, and proven durability.

The standard module measures 600 × 600 mm (24 × 24 inches).

However, even when dimensions appear similar, support systems differ among manufacturers, so panel compatibility is not always guaranteed.

For this reason, Atlantic Power recommends maintaining brand uniformity throughout the project to ensure proper structural fit and visual consistency.
